Saturday 9th August - REGISTRATION

12 - 4.30pm Registration on Sandpit Field, BH19 1DN
Or nearby (Mowlem Theatre, if poor weather conditions) BH19 1DD

On arrival at registration please find your race number on the lists provided. Wave lists will also be published on the website on Wednesday 4th Aug.

ATTENDANCE You are required to attend registration to collect your race pack. This will include your race number, commemorative t-shirt, last minute race notes and race timing chip. You will be numbered in transition in the morning. Please do so before putting on your wetsuit.

IMPORTANT - You will be required to collect you race chip from “Race Timing” Sports desk.

BTF CARDS MUST BE SHOWN AT REGISTRATION

REQUIRED AT 1. BTF card for all BTF Members
REGISTRATION or photo ID i.e. Passport or Drivers licence for Day Licence holders.
(All competitors) 2. Cycle Helmet – To be checked.

If you are unable to attend registration due to work commitments, you can nominate a friend or team mate to collect your race pack. They will need a signed letter of authority plus the above.

AMENDMENT OF Competitors must notify the organisers of any corrections to entry
ENTRY DETAILS details, in particular the team represented, before starting the race.
No exceptions will be made afterwards.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT Trade bike stand will be available on Saturday to sort out any last minute problems Competitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that their bicycle is in a roadworthy condition. Be prepared! Take spare inner tube and wear correct clothing for the conditions.
RACE PHOTOGRAPHS Competitor photographs will be available through www.evokepix.co.uk IF Evoke HAVE YOUR UP-TO-DATE EMAIL ADDRESS THEN THEY WILL SEND YOU PROOFS OF YOUR PICTURES. You can enter or update your email details at www.evokepix.co.uk .
POOR WEATHER If the weather is poor, registration will take place in the Community Room on the 2nd floor of the Mowlem Theatre, Shore Road, Swanage, BH19 1DD. This will be the same time period of 12-4.30pm.

Concept Sport is supporting RNLI Lifeguards through the Weymouth Middle Distance
Triathlon and the Weymouth ‘Sprint’. You can do your bit by pledging to raise funds for the RNLI through your series entry.

There is no minimum sponsorship requirement, as all amounts both large and small will go towards helping RNLI Lifeguards continue to save lives at sea. For more information on how you can support the RNLI, please call Carla Rowley on 01202 336 026 or email Crowley@rnli.org.uk

6.30am SPRINT swimmers commence course
6.55am Wave 1 – Elite, Relays, Women & Age Groups C D E
7.10am Wave 2 - Men Age Group H & Above
7.25am Wave 3 - Men Age Groups G & F
7.20am (approx) First SPRINT cyclists return to transition
7.50am (approx) First SPRINT runners complete course
9.30am (approx) Last cyclists return to transition
11.00am (approx) Last runners complete course

12.15pm (approx) Presentation of prizes and trophies on Sandpit
Field. (Weather Permitting)

Please attend prize presentation if you have won an award.
Sending prizes will cost £3 post and packaging.

PRIZE LIST



COURSE

TRANSITION Located on Sandpit Filed on the main sea front road going into Swanage. Please bring your belongings in a clear plastic box large enough to contain all your race gear. Bikes will be grouped together on the field. Transition will be open from 5.30am on race day. Find your race number on the racking for your place. Only competitors will be allowed inside the bike park for security reasons

SWIM

Sprinters will be starting at 6.30am, Olympic from 6.55am. Approximately 100 competitors at a time will start the race 15 minutes apart. You must arrive 15 minutes before your swim start to be registered. There will be no wave changes.

Sprint Distance (750m approx) - Open sea swim in Swanage Bay in a straight line starting from the Stone Quay. You will be required to make your way round the bay on foot to the sprint start line by 6.15am to be registered prior to starting. (10 min walk)

Olympic Distance (1500m approx) - Open sea swim in Swanage Bay in a anti-clockwise loop. You will exit the water at the Stone Quay and re-enter around a flag on the beach to return across the bay. Returning to the safety area on the far x buoy, keeping it on your left should, to swim to shore before being directed off the beach up the ramp and along the pavement to the steps up to sandpit field.

Do not start at the front if you are not fast or not used to sea swimming. Safety craft will be in position and lifeguards are instructed to remove any competitor from the water who they consider in danger for whatever reason. An alternative triangular course may be used due to overnight moorings in the bay. We advise you to practice sea swimming before the event.

Please where a brightly coloured hat to be easily identified. We will not be providing hats! Take care when leaving the beach and running up the steps to the transition.

CYCLING

Sprint Distance (20K approx) – Following the Olympic course to Langton Matravers, onto Kingston, where there are a series of dangerous bends heading towards Corfe Castle. Take care through the village of Corfe and continue past Corfe Castle to the roundabout at Norden Park & Ride the re-trace back to Corfe and turn left, returning back along the B3351 to Studland where the roads are narrow and require extreme care. Caution on downhill before turning right into Swanage and on entering the town you are required to turn right at the ‘Crows Nest’ onto Seaward Road, Great Care then continue on De Moulham Road back into transition.

Olympic Distance (40K approx) - Circuit going out of Swanage to Langton Matravers, onto Kingston, where there are a series of dangerous bends heading towards Corfe Castle. Take care through the village of Corfe and continue on the A 351 to the main Wareham roundabout where you will go round to retrace the A351 to Corfe. Return to Swanage via the A351 & B3351 to Studland where the Roads narrow and require extreme care. Caution on downhill before turning right into Swanage. On entering the town you are required to turn right at the ‘Crows Nest’ on to Seaward Road, Great Care then continue on De Moulham Road back into transition.
Concentrate at all times. - No Heroes Please!!

HELMETS ARE COMPULSARY – Competitors are not to remove their helmets until their bike is racked inside transition. EXTREME CARE at the start of the cycle section and on descents into Swanage – no heroes please!

RUN

Sprint Distance (5K) – The route leaves as per the Olympic, splitting at the exit to Ballard Down where it continues onto Washpond Lane to the A351. The route re-enters Swanage via Victoria Avenue and then Walrond Road into the finish.
Great care on narrow road section from here-keep on left!

Olympic Distance (10K) - The route leaves transition towards Ballard Down, climbing 400 feet above sea level on narrow but good paths to Studland village and back on roads to the finish on the sea front. There will be a water station approximately half way (3 miles) at Studland village. Great care on narrow road section from here-keep on left and use pavements where possible.

HIGH PRIORITY TO TAKE EXTREME CARE – Please listen to Marshals at all times.

RACE INTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT The race is located on the sea front in a residential area so please be quiet as to avoid disturbing the local residents early on the Sunday morning.

NUMBERS Your race number must be clearly visible throughout the event. One number only to be provided so when wearing a race belt please ensure the number can be seen through each timing point. Please ensure you are marked up prior to putting on your wetsuit or using any sort of oil/grease/cream. The two labels are to be stuck onto your bike frame and the front of your bike helmet.

CHANGING Please arrive ready changed. Limited portable toilets are available at transition and more will be available on the seafront early in the day.

WATER STATIONS There will be no water stations on the bike course so please ensure you carry enough liquid refreshments on your bike. On the run there is a water station approximately half way to Studland village.

SUN PROTECTION Please remember to bring high SPF sun protection even if not required. Better to be safe than sorry!

RACE WITHDRAWL If you withdraw from the race at any point please inform the race desk. It is extremely important that we can account for everyone. RETURN YOUR RACE CHIP TO THE RACE DESK.

GENERAL RACE INFORAMTION

ACCOMODATION Swanage accommodation is available on www.swanage.gov.uk/accommodation
Great Campsites are located within 2 miles of the town centre.

PARKING Parking is available in car parks throughout the town or on local roads.

SPECTATORS Spectators are particularly welcome to watch the event and enjoy the spectacular views across Swanage Bay from the transition area. An ideal point to watch the whole swim.

RESULTS A full set of provisional results will be available on the day of the race. Please check all your details and make the race desk aware of any incorrect details. A provisional list will be posted on the website to which competitors will have 72 hrs to make queries.

PLEASE NOTE The organiser cannot be held responsible for competitors ’ property lost, stolen or damaged before, during or after this event.


WARNING
The BTF will not tolerate any rule infringements. Make note that bikes riding side by side or slightly to the side of and off the back will be penalised unless at the correct distance. Also, the crossing of solid white lines or failing to take due care will result in a DQ. The rules are equally applicable to Age Group Athletes and Elites.

APPEALS
Protest and appeals must be made to the BTF Race Referee in within one hour of finishing. A penalty notice will be posted next to the results display.
